Description
Dendrobium 'Hibiki' is an attractive small orchid cultivar with clusters of many colourful flowers. It is a cross between Dendrobium bracteosum and D. laevifolium, both from Papua New Guinea and neighbouring Melanesian islands. Pseudobulbs about 10 - 15 cm high with lanceolate leaves develop on a rootstock with adhesive roots. The flowers appear in dense racemes on short side shoots and are about 2 - 3 cm wide. Their outer petals are pinkish-red, the lip is orange.
This small orchid hybrid is a nice epiphyte for rainforest terrariums, also cooler tempered enclosures.
