Description
This magnificent little orchid is a hybrid of Dendrobium polyanthum and D. loddigesii, which was bred by Richella in 1989. The cultivar Dendrobium 'Yellow Goddess' is officially recognised and registered by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). Both parent species originate from mainland Southeast Asia and parts of East Asia and are found as epiphytes in subtropical to tropical humid forests. The approximately 10 - 15 cm tall plant forms a small rhizome with a cluster of distichously leaved, stem-like pseudobulbs. The leaves are medium green and about 4.5 cm long. A number of pink flowers with a white and yellow centre appear on hanging inflorescences.
Dendrobium 'Yellow Goddess' attracts attention with its flowers during the flowering period. It is recommended for various tropical and subtropical terrariums, especially rainforest terrariums, as a perching plant on branches and stems or on back and side walls.
