Description
The set of prefilter pad & fine filter pad from EHEIM is used for the mechanical and biological purification of aquarium water. Coarse and fine dirt particles are filtered from the water through the porous material. The special structure of the coarse filter pad provides suitable conditions for the colonization of beneficial bacteria. These bacteria can support the biological cleaning process and efficiently decompose harmful substances from the water.

Application
When the filter is cleaned at regular intervals, the fine filter pad should be replaced each time. In contrast, the coarse prefilter pad is designed for long-term use. If the mat is rinsed and squeezed out for cleaning, the beneficial bacterial communities that settle in it are retained for the next application.
