Description

'Compacta' is a medium-sized Echinodorus cultivar that was bred at Aquafleur company (Netherlands). It has roundish, reddish-brown underwater leaves; newly appearing leaves have a red edge. This Echinodorus gets about 30 cm high and grows rather slowly. It is best suited as a solitary plant, also in smaller tanks. The plant is mostly delivered in its emersed (terrestrial) form, with rather green, longer stalked leaves. Planted into the aquarium, the submerged foliage with its beautiful coloration will appear.

Echinodorus 'Compacta' has only little demands, moderate lighting is sufficient. As well as all sword plants, it grows best with abundant macro- and micronutrient supply via the substrate. CO2 supply promotes its growth but is not always necessary. In the Aquafleur catalogue temperatures between 22 and 30 °C are recommended.
