Description
Very different from the most Eriocaulon species, Eriocaulon setaceum is a stem plant with hair-like leaves. It is a true submerged plant that is widespread in tropical areas, growing in stagnant, warm waters. The delicate, light green leaves are up to 5 cm long.
Eriocaulon setaceum is quite demanding; strong lighting, good nutrient supply, high CO2 concentration (about 30 mg/l) and soft water are recommended. It has a wide temperature tolerance and prefers about 25 °C.
With its special habit, this unusual Eriocaulon species looks best as a group in the midground to background. It should be interesting in tanks for plants with exotic appearance such as low Eriocaulon species, Tonina fluviatilis and Syngonanthus species.
