Description
Guzmania 'Priscilla' is a magnificent variety from the bromeliad family. The various species of the Guzmania genus originate from the humid, tropical regions of Central and South America, and the cultivar 'Priscilla' also prefers a warm, humid climate. This stemless plant forms a funnel-shaped rosette of narrow, glossy leaves that are mainly green in colour. It prefers a semi-shady to shady location and thrives at a humidity of 50 to 90 %, ideal for use in humid terrariums. Temperatures between 20 and 30 °C provide optimum growing conditions. As an epiphyte, Guzmania 'Priscilla' does not require a special substrate and can be easily attached to branches or back walls. It is important that some water always collects in the funnel to support the plant's natural life cycle.
Guzmania 'Priscilla' is particularly attractive thanks to its bright red inflorescence, which lasts for several weeks and creates a tropical atmosphere in the terrarium. This eye-catching flower colour stands out clearly against the green foliage and adds an exotic accent to any terrarium. This bromeliad can grow up to around 80 cm wide, making it ideal for larger terrariums. However, it needs a certain amount of time to reach this final size. Guzmania 'Priscilla' blends particularly well into humidity-loving environments, making it ideal for reptiles or amphibians that prefer high humidity.
