Description
The Hoya carnosa 'Tricolor', an enchanting climbing plant from the silk plant family (Asclepiadaceae), originally comes from the tropical and subtropical regions of East Asia and Australia. Known for its strikingly colourful, fleshy leaves that glow in shades of green, white and pink, it is an ideal terrarium plant that prefers a warm, humid microclimate. Their ease of care, combined with their ability to thrive in moderate to bright, indirect light, makes them a favourite green companion. Hoya carnosa 'Tricolor' does not like waterlogging, which is why a well-drained substrate and moderate watering are essential to promote the plant's health and growth.
In a terrarium, Hoya carnosa 'Tricolor' not only provides a visually appealing splash of colour, but also blends harmoniously into a wide variety of plant arrangements. Its long, flexible shoots can be guided along terrarium walls or made to hang, allowing for a dynamic and three-dimensional green design. Particularly noteworthy are the spectacular, waxy flowers of 'Tricolor', which appear in dense clusters and are arranged in a star shape. The flowers are mostly white or pale pink with a striking red centre, whose sweet fragrance is particularly enjoyable in the evening or at night. This unique flowering splendour, combined with its easy care and adaptability to terrarium-specific conditions, makes Hoya carnosa 'Tricolor' an exceptional addition to any terrarium collection.
