Description

JBL Sintomec is a highly efficient bio-sintered glass filter material that has been specially developed for biological filtration in freshwater and marine aquariums. With a surface area ten times larger than that of conventional filter sponges, it offers an optimum colonisation area of 1200 m² per litre for beneficial microorganisms. These microorganisms settle in the conical tunnel pores of the material and naturally break down pollutants such as nitrate, thus achieving intensive water purification. JBL Sintomec is particularly suitable for larger filter systems, as its coarse structure enables improved water flow and significantly increases filter performance.
The biofilter rings are inserted into the aquarium filter as the penultimate filter stage to ensure long-term stable water quality.
