Description
Neoregelia 'Agnes' is an attractive cultivar from the Bromeliad family, known for its spectacular colours and shapes. This species originates from a cross between various Neoregelia species and is characterised by its robust and adaptable nature. It is at home in the cultivated gardens and collections, as it does not occur in this form in the wild. Neoregelia 'Agnes' forms a dense, stemless rosette of broad, glossy leaves that can take on a palette of green to red tones depending on light exposure and care. The plant prefers high humidity of 60 to 80 per cent and temperatures between 18 and 27 °C, conditions that can easily be imitated in a rainforest terrarium. It can be kept both epiphytically, i.e. attached to branches and back walls, and terrestrially in suitable substrates.
In a terrarium, Neoregelia 'Agnes' offers an impressive visual attraction thanks to its intense leaf colouring and spectacular flowering. Particularly noteworthy is the flowering period, when Neoregelia 'Agnes' develops small, delicate flowers in bright red or pink, which appear in the centre of the rosette and give the plant an extraordinary appearance. Watering should be moderate, keeping the centre of the rosette slightly moist at all times to promote health and flower formation.
