Description
Peperomia 'Hope' is one of the overhanging to creeping dwarf peppers with opposite to whorled leaves. Depending on the source of information, it is counted among Peperomia tetraphylla or also P. pecuniifolia, but is also stated to be a cross between P. quadrifolia and P. deppeana. Its leaves, up to approx. 3,3 cm long, are round and thick, hence the English name "String of Pennies".
Peperomia 'Hope' grows well in a loose, humusy soil that should neither dry out completely nor become waterlogged. However, some temporary dryness is tolerated. When the plant is well rooted, it can be supplied with a houseplant fertiliser. A bright, but not full sunny spot is preferred. About 18-25 °C is favourable. The plant can be propagated by cuttings.
This round-leaved succulent dwarf pepper can be used in various tropical, even drier terrarium types as a creeping ground plant or hanging epiphyte, also on backwalls.
