Description
Peperomia obtusifolia, also known as dwarf pepper, originally comes from the tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America. As a member of the pepper family (Piperaceae), this robust houseplant is characterised by its adaptability and low care requirements. It prefers indirect, bright light and a high humidity environment, making it an ideal choice for keeping in terrariums. Its ability to store water in its thick, fleshy leaves allows Peperomia obtusifolia to thrive even during periods of low watering. Thanks to these properties, it is not only easy to care for, but also helps to improve air quality by filtering pollutants from the environment.
In terrariums, Peperomia obtusifolia is a compact, bushy plant with attractive foliage. Its glossy, dark green leaves offer a delightful texture and depth of colour that visually enriches any miniature landscape. Although the plant's flowers are rather inconspicuous, their greenish to white spikes add an interesting detail that emphasises the natural beauty and diversity of a terrarium. The combination of low maintenance, the ability to thrive in humid environments and its visual appeal makes Peperomia obtusifolia an excellent choice.
