Description
Philodendron 'Florida Green' is an impressive hybrid cultivar with decorative, lush green, glossy, deeply cut leaves. It combines the best characteristics of its parent species, Philodendron squamiferum and Ph. pedatum, both of which originate from the tropical rainforests of South America. The cultivar was originally named Philodendron 'Florida', but is usually called 'Florida Green' in the trade, also to distinguish it from the cultivars 'Florida Beauty' and 'Florida Ghost'. It is also often mistakenly traded as Philodendron pedatum and Ph. x joepii. The rough, often brown-red coloured petioles are a striking feature. The plant has become a popular choice for interiors and terrariums. It is characterised by fast growth and adaptability to different environmental conditions.reddish-brown mottling, creating a unique and visually appealing aesthetic.
In a terrarium, Philodendron 'Florida Green' provides a fascinating visual attraction thanks to its unusual leaf shape and texture. This plant prefers indirect, bright light to ensure optimal growth and the maintenance of its vibrant green color. High humidity and regular watering, without the roots being permanently wet, simulate its natural habitat and promote healthy growth. Very well-developed plants may occasionally develop inflorescences. However, these are rather inconspicuous compared to the leaves.
Philodendron 'Florida Green' brings an exotic aesthetic to any plant collection. The adaptability and ease of care of this Philodendron cultivar makes it an excellent choice for terrariums with a tropical atmosphere.
