Description
Pinguicula 'Red Starfish' is a hybrid variety created by crossing different Pinguicula species. This carnivorous plant originates from the humid, shady regions of Mexico and is known for its ability to catch small insects and use them as a nutrient source. It thrives best at temperatures between 20 °C and 25 °C and a humidity of 50% to 80%. Bright, indirect light is preferred, but partial direct sunlight is also tolerated. Regular watering with distilled water keeps the substrate moist and promotes growth.
Pinguicula 'Red Starfish' is excellent for various types of terrariums, including humid terrariums, tropical terrariums, and plant terrariums. The compact rosette form, reaching a diameter of up to 12 cm, fits perfectly in small to medium-sized terrariums. The leaves are fleshy, red-tinted, star-shaped, and sticky to catch insects. The plant produces small, violet or pink flowers on slender stems year-round, adding extra visual appeal. These characteristics make Pinguicula 'Red Starfish' a decorative and functional highlight in any terrarium.
