Description
Pinguicula 'Tina' is an interspecific hybrid created by crossing two species of carnivorous plants. With its large, juicy leaves that resemble lettuce and an impressive size of up to 15 cm in diameter, it is a remarkable specimen. The leaf color varies with light intensity from light green to green. The plant thrives best at temperatures between 22°C and 29°C and requires partial to full sun or equivalent artificial light.
Pinguicula 'Tina' has no actual dormancy, but the sticky, insect-trapping leaves are replaced by a smaller succulent rosette for part of the year. The plant can stop growing if the temperature or humidity is too low.
A well-drained, nutrient-poor substrate such as a mixture of peat, sand, perlite and / or vermiculite is recommended. During the phase in which insect-catching leaves are formed, the substrate should be kept well moist with soft, e.g. distilled, water.
Pinguicula 'Tina' is excellent for small to medium terrariums. Its intense, long-lasting flowers are not only visually appealing but also add a vibrant touch of color to the terrarium. The plant is easy to care for, does not require frequent repotting, and tolerates humidity levels of 50 to 80%. These characteristics make it an ideal choice for growers of all experience levels and an attractive element in any terrarium landscape.
