Description

One of the very few aquatic mosses from Africa, a rarity quite unknown in the hobby yet. Plagiochila integerrima is a large foliose liverwort. It is quite widely spread in the African tropics, where it is found in moist shaded areas, e.g. on riverbanks, together with Anubias species. Under water it is a slow grower, developing horizontal to ascending shoots with a width of approx. 5 to 8 mm that remind a bit of fern leaves.

This liverwort should be attached to driftwood or rocks. It grows best under medium light and an ample nutrient and CO₂ supply. Nutrient deficiencies will lead to narrow pale shoots. According to our experience, it grows well in soft to medium hard water. We still need to test it in hard water.
