Description
Sarracenia flava var. atropurpurea, an impressive carnivorous plant from the pitcher plant family, originates from the wetlands of North America. This plant prefers partial to full sunlight and thrives with a lighting duration of 16 hours a day. It grows best in a special, well-drained substrate, as recommended by Aqua Art. The plant reaches a height of 30–70 cm and a width of 30–60 cm. For optimal results, the plant should be kept in consistently moist soil, and watering is best done with Tropical Rain.
Sarracenia flava var. atropurpurea is particularly attractive for terrariums due to its striking, deep red pitchers and bright yellow flowers that hang on upright caps. This plant is excellent for medium to large terrariums as it achieves an impressive height and width. It offers a fascinating appearance and unique functionality by catching insects. In addition to its aesthetic impact, it contributes to pest control. The ideal temperature for its growth is between 15 and 30 °C, and a humidity of 50 to 80% is optimal.
