Description
Tidal MatrixCarbon from Seachem is made for use in a Tidal filter. Respectively tailored to each filter size, the Tidal variant of the MatrixCarbon filter media is packaged in appropriate quantities. The filter medium is sensibly supplied in a matching Seachem Zip Bag, which ensures an easy and trouble-free start. It is available in four different sizes to match the respective Seachem Tidal Filter 35, 55, 75 & 110.
The truly unique activated carbon in spherical form ensures optimal hydrodynamics and excluded compaction. Thus, MatrixCarbon allows maximum water flow and flushing around the macroporous binding sites. Thanks to the very low ash content, the pH value is hardly affected. Even when added to distilled water, it does not cause the pH-value to rise above 7. MatrixCarbon is twice as powerful as other high grade activated carbon, when compared to total organic matter uptake, adsorption rate and application time.
MatrixCarbon is made from hard coal and is therefore a macroporous carbon.
Its round shape is unique on the market and guarantees maximum water flow.
Nevertheless, the particles are large enough not to get lost through the pores of a filter bag.
Like any carbon, MatrixCarbon contains a small amount of phosphate.
This is not because it is cleaned with phosphoric acid, as most coals are treated with sulphuric acid.
The phosphate is due to the ash content of the carbon source.
Accordingly, the aim of acid treatment is to remove as much ash as possible.
Thanks to the hydrodynamic properties of MatrixCarbon, this procedure removes more ash than other activated carbons.
That is why it has the lowest detectable phosphate content on the market.
