Description

These Turkish hazel fruit clusters are harvested in the Schönbuch region and the northern part of the Black Forest in southwestern Germany. They are harvested directly from the trees and then carefully air-dried, so an optimum quality is ensured.
The woody, ripe fruit clusters of the Turkish hazel (Corylus colurna), a tree-shaped hazel species, are called "Hexennüsse" ("witch nuts") in German. They are versatile in aquaristics thanks to their specific character.

Please note: It may occur that the actual fruits (nuts) still stuck in the husks of the fruit clusters, possibly beginning to rot sometime under water. Therefore we recommend to remove nuts from the husks before the clusters are used in aquariums.

Features

  • The clusters provide a lot of hiding places for shrimps and crayfishes, especially their offspring
  • Natural aquarium decoration
  • They release humic substances into the water
  • Contribute to the well-being of the aquarium inhabitants
  • TheTurkish hazel is purely a decorative object and not suitable as food

Usage

If there are still nuts in the husks, pull them out before the clusters are taken into the aquarium. It is recommendable to blanch the Turkish hazelnut clusters with boiling water in order to make them better sink. Otherwise it takes some patience until they sink in the aquarium.

Content

Ripe fruit clusters of the Turkish hazel (Corylus colurna), dried, in a resealable zip bag for ideal stock-keeping.
For the Nano version, extra small pieces are selected.
