Description
The Twinstar Sterilizer effectively reduces the growth of green algae and lowers the microbial density in the water by utilizing a voltage difference between electrodes and the release of reactive radicals. No toxic substances are produced in the process, making it safe for ornamental fish, aquatic plants, and beneficial filter bacteria. Its sterilization performance is twice as effective as conventional UV devices while offering three times the lifespan. Within three days, the device significantly reduces the microbial load in the water, making continuous 24-hour operation unnecessary.
When installed, the Twinstar Sterilizer prevents algae deposits on plant leaves, allowing aquatic plants to utilize more light for photosynthesis. This can promote plant growth. Comparative images further illustrate the positive impact on plant growth rates when using this sterilization technology.
The TWINSTAR Sterilizer generates a sterilization effect through water electrolysis via electrodes. Typically, two electrodes coated with white gold (anode and cathode) are submerged in water, and a voltage is applied to electrolyze the water.
Active oxygen generation: During the electrolysis process, oxygen (O₂), hydrogen (H₂), and various reactive oxygen species (ROS) are generated. These reactive oxygen compounds have strong oxidizing properties that help reduce the microbial load in the water.
Sterilization effect: The generated active oxygen and oxygen gas reduce organic loads in the water by oxidizing cell structures. This leads to improved water quality.
The water quality is monitored in real-time by sending electrical signals to the reactor. These data are analyzed by an integrated IC circuit, which calculates the optimal sterilization intensity.
When used in a clean, particle-free aquarium environment, the reactor can be operated for 6 to 12 months. The reactor is made of titanium and coated with platinum, creating strong polarization. Regular cleaning of the aquarium environment helps maintain optimal functionality.

Note
Do not place your hand in the aquarium while the Twinstar is in operation. If you have small cuts or very sensitive skin, slight electrical irritation may occur, but it is harmless.
The membrane is a wearing part and should be replaced after max. 6 months. This is the only way to maintain the optimum effect of the Twinstar. To do this, the entire electrode is replaced and exchanged for the Replacement electrode.
