Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Raven', also known as the black ZZ plant, is a striking variant of the classic Zamioculcas zamiifolia, characterised by its almost black leaves. Originally from the dry grassland and forest regions of East Africa, this rare and stylish plant has become a popular choice for interiors and terrariums worldwide. 'Raven' attracts attention with its glossy, dark leaves growing from sturdy stems. This colour variation initially develops as a lighter green and darkens with age, adding to its unique appearance.
The placement and care of Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Raven' in a terrarium requires little effort. This plant prefers indirect light and can also thrive in less illuminated areas, which makes it particularly versatile. 'Raven' is drought tolerant and stores water in its thick roots, making it an ideal choice for terrariums with lower humidity. Although Zamioculcas zamiifolia rarely flowers, especially indoors, mature plants can occasionally produce small, inconspicuous flowers.
