Description

Zoo Med Terrarium Moss is a natural Sphagnum moss and can be used as a purely decorative or functional substrate in plant terrariums. Sphagnum moss, also called peat moss, can store large amounts of water and is therefore ideal for humid biotopes. Since it is a moss adapted to changing humidity conditions, it can colonise a wide variety of habitats. It is even viable under water for longer periods of time. Due to these optimal adaptations to changing humidity conditions, Sphagnum moss is also ideally suited as a forest floor for a rainforest or forest terrarium. It can also be used for steppe terrariums or in the Wabi Kusa. As it regulates the humidity in a natural way, the climate in the plant terrarium is positively influenced by Zoo Med Terrarium Moss.

Application

Place the desired amount of moss in a container of clean water. Squeeze the moss together and wait until it has soaked up the water. Then remove the moss from the water and wring it out until only 15 - 20 % moisture remains in the moss. Place in the terrarium around a low bowl of water and place moss around the edge of the bowl so that animals can get in and out of the water easily. To prevent smaller animals from drowning, it is advisable to place a piece of river wood or a sponge in the bowl.

Cleaning: Remove the moss from the terrarium and place it in a bucket of clean water. Swirl the moss and water several times. Then remove the moss from the water and wring it out thoroughly. Repeat this process 2 to 3 times with fresh water. The moss should last 3 - 4 cleanings until it needs to be replaced with fresh moss.
