Description
The dwarf hairgrass, also known as Eleocharis acicularis 'Mini', Eleocharis sp. "Belem" as well as the name Eleocharis pusilla, probably originates from the Belém area in Brazil. It stays lower than the Needle Spikerush, E. acicularis, and the plant that is traded as "Eleocharis parvula". It is one of the most popular lawn-forming plants in aquascaping. Although its culms may reach a length of about 10 cm, it is perfectly suited for an only 3-6 cm high, dense, lush, freshly green lawn. Its almost hair-thin, light green culms are typically arching and appear on many thin underground runners.
Eleocharis sp. 'Mini' is not very demanding but needs good lighting in the first place. CO2 addition and complete nutrient supply, also via the substrate, are very beneficial for its growth. For planting, the tissue culture or pot plant is split into smaller tufts that are distributed over the entire area to be covered. They are best put into the ground with tweezers. It grows together with its branched runners, eventually forming a dense lawn. Not before it has become very dense and too high, It should be trimmed to the ground. New culms will grow from the matted runners. The plant has to be cut down rather rarely.
Magnificent look and low maintenance make Eleocharis sp. 'Mini' a great choice as ground-covering plant. As it also grows well emersed, it is also interesting for paludariums and Wabi-Kusa.

Due to unexpected events, it was in the box for more than 2 weeks. However, the plant is fine and growing great!
Perfect in vitro by Tropica. Very generous quantity in excellent conditions. Very easy to prepare and plant. Arrived very quickly, as usual, with Aquasabi.
2 of XL in vitro were enough to plant densely in a 60x30cm aquarium. They came very healthy and with a good root system. Not a single dead strand!
