Great upgrade from my Eheim-classic-150. Totally silent and gets rid of air fast. It is compact but has good space for mechanical, biological and chemical filtration.
The pipe-lock system is handy and the built-in heater seems to be very precise so far.
The included filtration setup is useless for planted tanks, but that’s the case for every filter out there. I replaced half of the coarse sponge with the medium sponge of the second chamber and the rest was filled with Matrix, Purigen and filter floss.
I use it on a 30l cube and it’s obviously more than enough. Good purchase.
Update after 1 year.
The propeller made an annoying cracking noise after just a few months and I had to clean the filter every week to lower it down.
The easy-click system was a pain to open when I needed to clean the filter and it got more and more difficult with time (don’t know if my unit had a defect). Today the opening system just got stuck and cracked opening when trying to separate the hoses. It flooded me and my living room with around 5 liters of water until I got to the lily pipes and took them out of the tank.
I had to run find a spare and also brome my glass outflow in the process.
Update after 2+ Years: I finally understood the trick for this filter to be almost perfect. Keep every o-ring in good condition by applying the silicone grease after every filter maintenance, that is enough to keep the issues away. I currently have two of these filters running non-stop for years with no issues, and I plan to get a third one for an Iwagumi cube that Im planning.
Overall is a good filter, but the attach system could be projected better.
