Description

The Tetra 6in1 test strips allow the six most important water values in the aquarium to be determined quickly and reliably in one simple step: To do this, simply dip the test strips into the water, swish them around in the water for one to two seconds, shake off the water and read off the most important information about the water values after just 60 seconds. The colour scale can be used to determine whether the water values are within the safe range. The pH-value, the total and carbonate hardness (GH + KH), the nitrite (NO2), nitrate (NO3) and chlorine (Cl2) content of the aquarium water are measured. Aquarium inhabitants such as fish react very sensitively to strong changes in the pH-value, as it has an impact on the well-being of the creatures. The total hardness has an influence on the vital functions of the fish, while the KH-value has a direct influence on the stability of the pH-value ("pH-buffer"). In addition, the test strips measure the nitrite and nitrate values of the aquarium water. Nitrite is very harmful even in low concentrations and should therefore not be detectable in the water. Nitrate serves the plants as a nutrient for their growth. However, too high concentrations of NO3- can be harmful to fish and promote excessive algae growth. Another substance that can occur in water is chlorine. Chlorine is harmful to fish and plants. Just like nitrite, chlorine should therefore not be detectable in aquarium water. With the help of the Tetra Aquatics App, the water values can also be determined quickly and safely via smartphone.
