Description

'Reni' is a well-known Echinodorus cultivar characterised by being amongst the smallest of the red Echinodorus. It was bred by Tomas Kaliebe by crossing of the cultivars 'Großer Bär' and 'Ozelot'. The leaf rosette gets 15-40 cm tall and 15-25 cm wide. The new leaves of the plant are reddish-brown to deep beetroot in colour.

It can be used in small aquariums and is unpretentious. The plant requires a lot of light and nourishment for optimal colour development.

Echinodorus 'Reni' was bred by Tomas Kaliebe by crossbreeding E. 'Grosser Baer' and E. 'Ozelot', and it was brought onto the market in 2003.
In submersed cultivation, this variety has widely elliptic dark red leaves with slightly lighter-coloured veins. It tends to stay quite small for a long time, with its leaves growing only 10 cm in length and 6 cm in width, which makes it a good foreground plant. However, after some time it will start growing out, forming up to 25 cm long leaves 8 cm in width and 10 cm long leaf stalks.
E. 'Reni' needs lots of light and nutrients.

Echinodorus 'Reni' - Pot

I received very nice plant and it adapted very well in my tank. I have chosen this plant because it needs less lightning and CO2. Good for tank without CO2 system - as my tank. (read more)
